Jack Neville and Douglas Grant laid it along the cliffs of Carmel Bay in 1919, and no course has meant more to public golf since: six U.S. Opens, the AT&T every February, the tiny 7th falling a hundred yards to the ocean, and the 18th curving along the seawall like a closing argument.
