Jack Neville and Douglas Grant laid Pebble Beach along the cliffs of Carmel Bay in 1919, and the game has been measuring itself against it ever since. In 2001 it became the first public course Golf Digest ranked number one in America. Six U.S. Opens down, a seventh on the calendar, and a tee sheet you can actually get on.

Three rounds across Pebble Beach Resorts' championship courses, and the mix follows the calendar: through March 2027 you play Spyglass Hill twice and Pebble Beach once, because the Links at Spanish Bay is closed for its Gil Hanse rebuild; from April 2027 the package plays one round each at Spyglass, Pebble Beach, and the reopened Spanish Bay.
Pebble is the round you retell — the tiny 7th falling a hundred yards to the Pacific, the 18th curving along the seawall — but Spyglass Hill may be the sterner test of the two. Robert Trent Jones Sr. opens it with five holes tumbling through seaside dunes, then turns into the Del Monte Forest, where its reputation gets earned; it has anchored the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am rota since 1967, and its course record of 62 has stood since 2005.
Spanish Bay is the story to watch. The 1987 Jones-Watson-Tatum links closed in March 2026 so Gil Hanse and Jim Wagner could rebuild it inside its own footprint — relocated green sites and an all-new par 3 — and Pebble Beach Resorts has it reopening April 17, 2027, about two months before the U.S. Open arrives next door. A spring 2027 booking is the rare chance to play a famous links in its opening weeks.
The Inn is one of Pebble Beach Resorts' lodges: 269 rooms set against the dunes at the north end of 17-Mile Drive, with guest access to the Forbes Five-Star Spa at Pebble Beach and the resort's restaurants, and a bagpiper who closes the links at dusk every evening as the sun drops into the Pacific.
Staying inside the gates is the practical half of the trip: resort guests book the rota with advance starting times confirmed at reservation, and the between-rounds hours belong to 17-Mile Drive, the spa, and Stave Wine Cellar rather than to a car. The bagpiper is real, nightly, and better than it sounds on paper. Dusk, dunes, the Pacific taking the sun down, and one piper walking the links toward the fire pits — it is the Peninsula's version of a closing ceremony, and it costs nothing but showing up with a drink in hand.
Through Monterey Regional (MRY), which Pebble Beach Resorts calls a simple 15-minute drive from the resort, with nonstop routes including Dallas and Denver; three international airports — San Jose, San Francisco, and Oakland — sit within what the resort describes as a two-hour drive.
