A lone spreading tree over a rolling Vista Vallarta fairway at dusk, palms to one side and the Sierra Madre ridgeline rising behind the hole.

Course 01

Vista Vallarta · Nicklaus

Host of the 2002 EMC World Cup of Golf.

The higher and harder of Vista Vallarta's two eighteens. Jack Nicklaus routed it along the ridge, and the 2002 World Cup was played here. Jungle, arroyos, and the Sierra Madre on every horizon.

A fairway on the Jack Nicklaus course at Vista Vallarta at sunset, with sand bunkers cut into rolling turf and dense jungle behind.
Nicklaus cut his eighteen into the jungle foothills: bold bunkering, and fairways that fall away toward the treeline.

Wide off the tee. Then the sand starts making the decisions for you.
A broad Vista Vallarta green with its flag above a deep sculpted bunker, mature trees around the fairway and cloud-capped mountains in the distance.

Course 02

Vista Vallarta · Weiskopf

Canyon and jungle golf in the Sierra Madre foothills.

Tom Weiskopf took the lower ground of deep ravines, running creeks and dense jungle, and built the more forgiving of the two. Fewer blind shots, more receptive greens, and no less beautiful for it.

The course in frames

A water hazard on the Tom Weiskopf course at Vista Vallarta at dusk, with a large spreading tree above the far bank and mountains beyond.
Weiskopf worked with what was already here: old trees, still water, the natural fall of the land. Strategy over spectacle.
Evening on a Marina Vallarta green at the edge of Banderas Bay, golfers and carts under a palm, the beach and hotel towers curving away toward the mountains.

Course 03

Marina Vallarta

Lagoons, jungle, and wildlife in the heart of the marina.

Joe Finger's 1989 layout wraps around Casa Velas itself: flat, mature and at sea level, the bay on one side and the mountains on the other. Crocodiles and iguanas share the lagoons. Follow the course's posted guidance and enjoy the wildlife from the fairway.

The course in frames

A fairway at Marina Vallarta Golf Club framed by agave plantings and palms, with the Sierra Madre under heavy cloud in the distance.
Agave lines the tee, the mountains close the view, and the course stays flat and walkable the whole way round.
Aerial view of Marina Vallarta Golf Club showing the red-tiled clubhouse, a practice green and fairways, with the Puerto Vallarta skyline and mountains beyond.
The course sits inside the marina district itself: clubhouse, city and mountains all in one frame.
